Prepare for one super nutrient packed smoothie with a delicious and refreshing taste! I love making these Colada smoothies! I have had great results with the 3-Day Refresh in the past, and these smoothies help to keep me on track and continue to rid my body of all of the GUNK it tends to hold on to. Many of you know I have severe arthritis in most of my joints, so I always try to fuel my body with foods that are rich in bromelain – an enzyme often used as a supplement aiding in various medical ailments such as inflammation, digestion difficulties, and circulatory health. Fresh pineapple is a great natural way to add bromelain into your nutrition plan, and this smoothie “sweet ingredient” is exactly that! I also pack in some kale and spinach (don’t worry, ya won’t taste it at all) which are both awesome for detoxing our digestive tract and our liver. I also use some coconut oil – a great healthy fat that I also use for cooking. One other sneaky ingredient that is often overlooked when cooking is a lime. Freshly squeezed lime is an awesome ingredient to add to water or smoothies and helps with digestion and flushing out all of the toxins in our bodies.
I usually have one of these smoothies daily – I love the fresh taste! I also feel more energetic/less sluggish when I include these in my nutrition plan. And for sure it helps my arthritis! Make it personal and add in some berries or a banana if you’d like! I use a bit of almond milk sometimes, but alcohol is NEVER added to this one. Others, yes, this one… NO! Hope you enjoy!
- ½ cucumber - deskinned and sliced
- ½ cup spinach
- ½ cup kale
- 1 freshly squeezed lime
- ⅔ cup fresh pineapple
- 1½ tsp. coconut oil
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup coconut water (optional)
- ¼ cup almond milk (optional)
- Add all ingredients and BLEND well!
- If you like it thicker add more ice.
