Meet Coach Laura Readel

I’m Coach Laura and I’m making my comeback! After Rheumatoid Arthritis caused some setbacks – multiple knee surgeries, and a total hip replacement in August 2016 I have been working hard to reach my goals and be as active and healthy as possible. I am a wife and a Mom, and I’m making my comeback! I’m so excited to share my health and fitness journey with you.   • Anyone else start taking steps before the plan is known?  Or maybe move in a direction and then run into barriers? 
How often do we pray for answers and then start moving in a direction that wasn't what God intended?  I've been there.  Some days I think I still am.  I don't always have a ton of patience..... lol  hey I'm workin' on it. 
And so I start taking steps in the direction I think I should - only to run into obstacles, heartache, or frustration.  And then it hits me.... I started moving before God ordered my steps.  I started moving according to what I thought I should do instead of waiting on His plan. 
So of course I run into barriers, right!? lol duhhhhh. 
So I pause.  I retreat.  I regroup.  And I refocus. 
Time to wait on God again.  Time to be patient and wait on His plan.  Time to rest in the comfort of knowing His plan is WAY better than mine. 
I pray the same for you today, friend.  God be with you this Sunday:)
  • Shout out to all the Moms who have mastered this concept.....I needed this reminder yesterday.... I work with many ladies who say that they've tossed in the towel and given up on their health goals because it was too "hard." After this past week I've reminded myself just how important it is to allow myself to rest when I need it. 
Not sure what it is about Mamas... but many of us feel that we simply cannot rest.  Instead we toss in the towel on our health and convince ourselves that it's too hard, too expensive, too time consuming.... But what if instead of quitting we simply rested?  What if we just gave ourselves a little grace and took the time we need to rest our bodies, our hearts, our minds? 
Resting may mean that we say "no" to requests made by others and that is sometimes tough to do - but it is necessary.  Resting may mean that our to-do's don't all get done - and that is ok.  Think of all the times we could have simply given ourselves time to rest instead of quitting altogether.... how different we'd feel about our abilities and our goals?! My prayer today is that the Mama who feels like quitting instead takes a pause and rests.  And by doing so, she is refreshed enough to take that next step and doesn't continue in the hamster wheel of quitting/starting back up only to feel like a failure each time. 
You are not a quitter.  You are capable of resting and starting again when you feel it's time. 
I'm rooting for you today~ you can do hard things.....
  • Will you chase joy today?  When we actively chase joy we are more capable of finding it.  It's a choice.  Sometimes we get so caught up in the to-do's and what is happening around us that we forget to seek joy in the moment.  Today, I will seek joy - I won't just seek it... I will relentlessly chase after it until it fills my heart and quiets my concern.  Worry is not of God - chase that joy in all you do! *

  • Ever feel powerless?  Out of control? 
There was a time not so long ago that I felt both with my health.  Things were spinning out of control with RA symptoms and questions and I felt powerless. 
Until I DECIDED I wasn't. 
It was a decision.  It was a choice I made. 💚 I decided that I wasn't going to focus on the negatives. 💛 I decided that I wasn't going to sit and wait for doctors to tell me what to do and how to feel. 🧡 I decided that I wasn't going to just walk into appointments uneducated about my possibilities. ❤️ I decided that I would pay closer attention to my nutrition and figure out what causes my flares. 💜 I decided that letting RA win my days had a lot to do with how I was planning my time and my responsibilities. 💙 I decided what I wanted for my family. 
So now I am more aware, more educated, more thoughtful.... better at time management, asking for help when I need it, and focused on my family goals. ✅ I KNOW that when I move more I FEEL better. ✅ I KNOW that when I eat healthier I FEEL better. ✅ I KNOW that when I plan out my weeks ahead of time and leave room for the "what ifs" I am less stressed. 
This was all something I ALREADY knew being a part of the health and fitness world... but now I truly understand the connection between it all and my symptoms. 
I'm no different than any of you.  Regardless of your health issues ~ the same things that affect me affect you.  Nutrition, exercise, water, time management/stress.... it ALL MATTERS. 💯

44 was a rough year in many ways for my health.  I allowed many negative thoughts to come in and control me.  had to do "something." And so I did. 💪👏👊 I invested in myself again. 
I invested in my family again. 
So can you. 🤝

  • It’s so easy to feel anxious about figuring it all out, right? Isn’t it awesome to rest in knowing that He will do that FOR US if we commit to Him? ⠀

I sometimes make it so much more difficult than what it has to be.  All the planning and stressing about the to-do’s and the “what if’s” ~ it takes training my mind to stop taking action all the time and instead allowing my heart to take rest. ⠀

Rest in the worry. Rest in the anxiety. ⠀
⠀
Rest. Today I’m resting my mind and committing my plans to God.  I KNOW that His plans are far greater than anything I could ever create myself. 💜👊

No lie, I set some fairly scary goals for myself.  I'm not scared to work for them.  I've been crushing some goals, and still stretching for others.... but I refuse to stop pushing! 👊

You.  I'm talking to you.  All of you.  Anyone of you can help me reach my goals.... You've just gotta let go of all that.  You've gotta trust me, and this process.  You've gotta lean into the group of awesome people that I've surrounded myself with.

I'm stretching for my goals this month.  I need 3 more folks to join me.... I'm rooting for you, I'll be with you every step of the way, and we'll finish strong together.
