Meet Coach Laura Readel

I’m Coach Laura and I’m making my comeback! After Rheumatoid Arthritis caused some setbacks – multiple knee surgeries, and a total hip replacement in August 2016 I have been working hard to reach my goals and be as active and healthy as possible. I am a wife and a Mom, and I’m making my comeback! I’m so excited to share my health and fitness journey with you. This is NOT the highlight reel.  It’s just the real.  By the end of these reps I’m usually in tears. (And a bit nauseous) lol. 
But I keep showing up.

  • There are moments I am scared and unsure.  A couple days before my TKR I was at the park with my kids.  My stomach was churning.  My nerves were real.  My ability to focus and enjoy the moment was nonexistent. ⠀
⠀
So I sat and waited.  I prayed.  I asked God to calm my heart.  But I just kept spinning in my head. ⠀
⠀
Have you ever prayed for peace and expected it on your own time?  I did.  And I was gently reminded again that NOTHING is on my time. ⠀
⠀
God waited until I completely submitted that worry to Him.  And to be honest, it wasn’t until about 20 minutes before my actual surgery that I was at peace with what was to come. ⠀
⠀
His timing is perfect.  Even when we don’t understand.  Even when we become frustrated that it’s not happening “right now.” Even when we don’t know why.  It’s perfect. ⠀
⠀
And it’s always on time.  His answers to our prayers are always in the right moment.  He loves us that much that He’ll give us exactly what we need at exactly the fight time. ⠀
⠀
So here’s to the wheel runners. The hamster wheel spinners.  The people who are struggling to find the peace in the preparations.  Timing will be perfect, believe that. ⠀

  • Being still and waiting for God to order our steps can sometimes be tough to do.  I always want to solve the problem and move, move, move.... but I am realizing that worry often comes when I move too quickly.  And so I am becoming more diligent in my approach. I am waiting more patiently on God to show me exactly which path to take.  And I’m finding less worry and more joy in the journey.  #rawarrior

Never underestimate the blessings we are given. The people God places in your life, maybe for a day, a year, or a lifetime... they are there on PURPOSE.⠀

Some days my heart is so full because I recognize the blessings that God has placed into my life. The people who pick you up when you fall, take care of you and your kids when you are laid up, the people who are in the ring with me instead of just cheering from the crowd.... those people, I am so very thankful for.⠀
⠀
Over these past few days I have quieted myself a bit and watched so much kindness fill our home. I am so very blessed to be called their Mom. And I am so very thankful for all of my family and friends who have called or messaged asking how they can be helpful.⠀

You rock. Seriously, you rock. Thanks for battling with me instead of just cheering me on from the sideline:) ⠀

  • My health isn't an option.  Taking care of my body is a requirement.  When facing a chronic illness everything we do affects our bodies.  Clean foods, lots of water, plenty of rest, exercise - ALL a must if I want to feel my best. 
I'd been on the struggle bus and DECIDED it was time to jump off.  I've been following my meal plan and feeling better - in only 3 days I am down 2 lbs.! Amazing how my body remembers good fuel!  lol 
Getting ready for my TKR - less than 3 weeks away!  WHOA!  LOTS can happen to your body in only 21 days.... watch me or join me, your choice!

  • Anyone else start taking steps before the plan is known?  Or maybe move in a direction and then run into barriers? 
How often do we pray for answers and then start moving in a direction that wasn't what God intended?  I've been there.  Some days I think I still am.  I don't always have a ton of patience..... lol  hey I'm workin' on it. 
And so I start taking steps in the direction I think I should - only to run into obstacles, heartache, or frustration.  And then it hits me.... I started moving before God ordered my steps.  I started moving according to what I thought I should do instead of waiting on His plan. 
So of course I run into barriers, right!? lol duhhhhh. 
So I pause.  I retreat.  I regroup.  And I refocus. 
Time to wait on God again.  Time to be patient and wait on His plan.  Time to rest in the comfort of knowing His plan is WAY better than mine. 
I pray the same for you today, friend.  God be with you this Sunday:)
