Desserts have proven to be one of the most challenging loves of my life.  It’s fairly common that I will eat really healthy foods all day long and then at 9:00 at night a brownie calls my name.  Yes, by name.  I love chocolate, I love sugar, and I love anything sweet.   So I’ve had to be creative in finding ways to satisfy my sweet tooth.  I’ve had to figure out how to choose my treats/cheats wisely and have some quick and easy go-to snacks on hand that would help pass that craving.  The more I hunted around for creative ideas the more I was finding the same base ingredient…. GREEK Yogurt.  I was never a fan of plain greek yogurt.  In fact, I thought it was really bitter and the consistency was gross.  But I was willing to give it a try.  I started playing around with different fruits and started finding that it was actually really good mixed with fruit or with peanut butter.

After a short trial period I came up with a few favorites and now I always have these ingredients on hand for my late night sweet kitchen callings…  Start with plain greek yogurt and find the fruit combinations you love.  Sometimes just the sweetness of the fruit is enough to curb that craving, other times I may add a drizzle of raw honey or a few dark chocolate morsels.  I often use only greek yogurt and peanut butter – I can add peanut butter to just about anything to make it taste yummy.  Either way, it beats that huge brownie smothered in chocolate sauce with a side of vanilla ice cream:)  Enjoy~
